This is approximately as exciting as Princeton University is, too.

Every now and then, a band will come along that’s so good, it can’t possibly be overlooked. When that time comes, I’ll let you know. Until then, enjoy Princeton (sorry, but if my tendencies were towards hyperbole I’d be the worst blogger. Ever.) These three fellows got together while students, you guessed it, in elementary school in LA. Apparently they were inspired by the film, “That Thing You Do!” Me too, dudes, me too… Anyway, some years later they became a real band, as opposed to the sort of garage band we were all embarrassingly involved in at some point in our troubled pasts. They’re pretty solid – a nice cross between Belle and Sebastian and Vampire Weekend, and have toured with those cheeky Columbia bastards in addition to favorites like the Ruby Suns, and My Brightest Diamond (whom I don’t care much for, thank you very much).

This summer, they released an EP named Bloomsbury, about London’s famed Bloomsbury Group of the early 20th century, which contained all your favorite authors and intellectuals of the day. The four songs on the EP are about four of the members of that group: Virginia Woolf, Leonard Woolf, John Maynard Keynes, and Lytton Strachey. Erudite stuff, duderz! After several listens, I’m liking more and more.

Sample after the break.

What a terrible typo. My apologies, occasional internet intellectuals.
