Wow, so much Party Ben hate! Blog commenters sure love to complain. First of all, yes, I’m a big fan of 808s and Heartbreak and I believe I’ve respected the original timing of “Love Lockdown.” I had to switch some verses around but I didn’t shift the original beats. As far as all the good stuff being Soulwax’s doing, yes, totally, the Beethoven remix is a Soulwax (or, um, Hidden Cat, more likely) production, and that’s why I credited it as such. I have no interest in trying to pass myself off as doing what Soulwax did. Also, I’m not sure how a mashup of 3 songs somehow become a mashup with “100s” of songs, so that criticism seems a little out of left field — maybe you’re talking about Girl Talk? More than anything this was a mashup I made in the context of doing a live show at our mashup club, Bootie, and thus it’s best taken in the spirit it was created, which was to wink at A+D’s original Kanye vs. Beethoven classic mashup, “Beethoven’s 5th Gold Digger.” Any additional appreciation of the track is just gravy, as far as I’m concerned. Thanks for posting it and glad a couple people were amused by it, at least.

Good mashup, I am really stoked on the Green Day vs Oasis vs Kanye “Boulevard of Flashing Lights” from Party Ben last January.

Found your blog on the word press front page. It is rare to get anything about mashup their so it was a cool stumble.

It’s probably hidden cat vs Beethoven actually, don’t think anyone has got the non radio version of soulwax’s remix of a fifth of beethoven.

On a different note, what a useless mash up. These mash ups of 100s of songs are starting to take the piss; it doesn’t improve on any of the previous songs, they just segue together pretty easily.

The Classical Groove is actually the Soulwax remix Walter Murphy’s “A Fifth of Beethoven”. All those loops/scratches/ bass lines are Soulwax’s doing, not Party Ben. Another reason why Soulwax fucking rules.

That was an acapella played over another song (that didn’t mesh all that well in the first place) with an ordinary transition… It was like a clip from a shitty demo, not a song.
